Our Approach to Online Consultations for International Visitors
To visitors staying in Japan temporarily
Ikegawa Clinic offers online consultations in English for people visiting Japan from overseas. Before booking, we kindly ask you to read the following. This information is for people staying in Japan temporarily; it does not apply to people who live in Japan.
1. Helping you continue the medication you use at home
Our main purpose is to help visitors who have run out of, or are running low on, medication prescribed in their home country, whether they are here for travel or work, so that they can keep taking the same medication while in Japan.
2. Supporting a safe and comfortable stay in Japan
Running out of medication while travelling can affect your health and your plans. We provide this service as one way of helping you spend your time in Japan with peace of mind.
3. Official documents from your home country
To prescribe safely, we prescribe after reviewing an official document issued by a medical institution in your home country, such as a prescription or a prescription record. If you do not have one, please ask your doctor at home before booking, or message us on WhatsApp or LINE.
If you become unwell during your trip (for example, a cold or stomach trouble), we can see you without documents from your home country.
4. Prescriptions cover your stay in Japan
We prescribe the amount you need for the period of your stay in Japan. We occasionally receive requests for longer supplies, such as six months; as a rule, we are unable to accommodate these. Thank you for your understanding.
5. Requests we are unable to accept
Because medication can cost less in Japan than overseas, we sometimes receive requests for large quantities of a particular medication. As our service is intended to help you continue your treatment, we are unable to accept such requests.
The same approach applies to weight-loss medication such as Mounjaro and Wegovy. We are unable to accept requests based on the price difference between Japan and other countries.
